Some other stuff but, I don't think you'll ever have to fight them. All you'll really have to fight are the Third Party soldiers and the Shift Hunters.

But you should fight more Shifter Hunter types if you're going to practice! They'll come at you in packs, and you can't fight them like a normal pokémon battle.
