Sure, maybe once of twice he thought about home and how nice familiar it would be to see Blue's smug face. A home familiar, not a Luceti familiar, and of the life he had to put on hold. It wasn't from pure hate for the childhood rival of his that Red tried beating up that holographic reflection of how he might look once older after all -- honest!
(but not to say that he wouldn't be opposed to knocking his block off if he deserved it)
However, at no point did that mean he actually wanted to see Blue there in Luceti.
And certainly never ever ever ever an older version of him.
The first time he saw that spiky hair and dumb stupid face, Red made a turn right back into the general store until he was sure the guy was gone, with help from Pikachu to be his look-out, then later proceeded to have a headache one what he should do about this and failing at convincing himself he had seen a ghost.
It had been a while since then, and making sure he was being aware of his surroundings was a thing. He quickly found out that it was indeed a Blue Oak, and not a Green Oak like had been in the battle dome simulation Silver had brought up a long while back. That didn't really make approaching the other guy any easier though. What was he supposed to say? Did he have to say anything right then? He was getting to it, okay!
So what if it's been about a week or two? These things take time...!
It really didn't help to imagine either that the guy was going to laugh his head off if he saw him. (It really, really didn't.)
There's been some close calls, but Red thinks he's got it figured out when to avoid certain areas and to look out for jolteon-like hair peeking up higher than it should be. Was that Blue over there going into the clothes shop? Alright, time for Red to make the distance over to the grocery shop to get all the food for today and rattata it over to the battledome...!!!!! ]
On and off for weeks, he felt like he was being watched by something. Someone. It was unnerving at first, Blue going out of his way to pretty much try to keep an eye out for whoever thought it was so important to keep an eye on him. It never seemed malicious, nothing of the sort, but having eyes on him and seeing no one was pretty awkward. That's when he kept seeing glimpses of an all too familiar Pokemon.
A little yellow rat. Even if he didn't catch full on glimpses of it, seeing that tail suddenly dart around a corner didn't make it too hard to put the pieces together. I mean, plenty of trainers were here, but for a pikachu to be close by each time, of all things? He had an inkling to who it was. But he had to make sure it was his old pal.
That was, until he finally managed to track down who it was. Almost as quick as Red was trying to dart into the store, a hand managed to reach out and grab for the back of his collar.]
[ Red doesn't even see at first who or what it is that grabs him -- no, he's very quickly sure it's a who, considering the only object that sticks out in the middle of the square is the fountain, and fountains don't usually grab at people. It's a fountain. That's not what a fountain does.
Pikachu ends up flying off his shoulder, landing (perfectly!!) onto his feet and whipping his head back. There's a worried squeaking from the pokémon and, oh no, Red can already feel the terror in his heart before he even looks up-
MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY. ABORT EVERYTHING. ]
H-hey!
[ He struggles to get free swinging his head and kicking himself forward. Nopenopenopenope this wasn't how it was supposed to be!! ] Let go!
[He has a pretty firm grip on your vest Red. Sorry. He's not letting go any time soon, but he does do a little two finger salute to the Pikachu. Nothing to worry about, little guy.]
I've just got a couple of questions for your trainer here, alright?
[He focus goes back to him, grabbing the top of his head with his free hand and forcing his hat down onto his head like some impromptu hat noogie. He doesn't like people following him, okay! But he's mostly curious about one thing and one thing only.]
So why're you running around dressed up as Red, huh? You a fan of his or something? You want my autograph too?
[ hehehe, maybe that felt a little good. But whatever, Red's getting his run on. He holds out an arm when he comes to Pikachu- ] C'mon, Pikachu! [ and the pokémon jumps up, the boy starting down for the road outta here with his companion. ]
Smell ya later!
[ ok that felt really good. Please don't come after him! ]
[ oh crap, oh crap-- was that the call of a pokémon he heard behind him? Surely he can get into a building before a pokémon known for its speed reaches him, right?!
[Not at all, sorry Red. He's going right for the throat! And by throat, he means the back of your collar again. Except this time instead of Blue reaching for it, Arcanine is going to try to nab you. Just like a kitten, Red.]
double jerks do you think Red's going down so easy!? (And that's not whining noises he's making, okay!) ]
Pika, the nose!
[ Aye aye, captain! From the shoulder Pikachu's already turned, leaning on his front feet. He growls out and out comes an electric shock to Arcanine's wet nose!! Let him go!! ]
[ Ooph, not his butt to the ground! Pikachu hops onto the ground, growling at the arcanine. You think you're hot stuff because you're big? He isn't scared!! ]
You're the one who started chasing me! [ Ughh, let him stand up. Fine, he's not running! ] What do you want?
Red stands there quiet, mouth turned and staring at Blue. Does he really want to get into this? No, not actually. But if Blue doesn't believe him, that's not his problem.
Also it wasn't staring okay. Get it right!! ]
I'm dressed up like me. My name's Red. [ And he folds his arms, truly like a kid. ]
Right. I mean, I've gotta say you really look like him. He was a squirt just like you.
[So were you, Blue.]
But y'know, he kinda grew a bit. About... [He measures up his body with his hand... how tall was he? Well, shorter than him, duh. He stops at his shoulder.]
Yeah, that's because you're what, way older right now? [ Right now being the keyword here ] This is Luceti. Times don't match up. I'm still getting my gym badges back home.
[ and he's going to go ahead and assume he's gotten those babies by now okok.
also ] And there's no way I'm going to take your word for how tall I'm going to be when I'm older.
[ well he would've answered that quickly enough if he wasn't getting a face full of Blue. But he won't poke him, despite how easy it would be to do so.
( all the luceti based threads ever )
